prerequisites


Current hardware

This hack may work with different hardware but currently has only been confirmed working with the following set-up:

A LE37B550A5WQXU TV with the following components:

  • T370HW02 VC T-CON PCB
  • BN44-00262A IP board
  • BN41-01258B saturn4_550 Mainboard

New hardware

  • Replacement B650 PCB

In order to upgrade a B550 TV to a B650 you will need a B650 mainboard PCB.

A LE40B652T4WXXU main board PCB (BN94-02583F) is the only one that has been used and confirmed working so far, as with current hardware a different PCB may work but has not been tested.

Also remember that if you plan on using samygo make sure that your replacement B650 PCB is CI and not CI+.


Upgrading


With the same hardware

If you have the same setup and replacement board as listed above the upgrade process is very straight forward, simply open up your TV and replace the current mainboard PCB with the new one and everything should work fine.

With different hardware

If you do not have the exact same hardware as above then you should check the pin layouts connecting each of the components and compare them with the following pictures & tables. The most important pins are the ones that carry power (5v, 3.3v), generally if these match up and the voltages are not too different then it should be OK to at least plug in and test the new PCB.
